⸻
ves·pi·ar·y | ˈves-pē-ˌer-ē
Plural: vespiaries
Origin: Latin vespa “wasp” + -arium (denoting a place or receptacle)
⸻
1. A nest or dwelling place of wasps; a structure created by wasps for living, breeding, and communal protection.
2. (figurative) A symbol or system of collective vigilance, forged through the labour of many, each individual contributing to the defence, shape, and survival of the whole.
⸻
A wasps’ nest is not chaotic. It is deliberate. Structured. Fiercely protective.
Vespiary: Savage and Rising is a testament to feminine resilience and strategy—crafted under pressure, built with intent.
This exhibition calls to women—cis, trans, queer, migrant—who carry strength in silence or speak up when told to stay quiet.
This is not decoration. Rather, It is declaration.
Through large-scale linocut prints, drypoint etchings, and mythic imagery, the work honours the archetypes who guide us:
Athena Promachos who fights in front.
Hekate who stands at every crossroads.
Persephone, the stolen girl who becomes Queen of the Underworld.
Each tool—brayer, baren, wooden spoon—arms the inner self.
Each mark remembers. Each print nudges you to rise.
